Human Resources Apprenticeship in London
What you'll need
- A minimum of 2 GCSE's Grade A* - C or Grade 4 and above including Maths and English language
- Plus 2 A-Levels in any subject at grade A* - D or equivalent
- You must be 18 years old by September 2023 to be eligible for this scheme
Apprenticeship overview
A role in Human Resources at TfL is all about the people that keep London moving.
Your role will contribute towards ensuring we hire, develop and support the employees at the heart of our business.
You'll be making sure the right people, with the right experience and skills, are in the right jobs. Without this, we cannot continue to deliver our world class service.
You'll learn how to support the core business in the delivery of generalist and specialist HR services.
What you'll be doing
You'll begin a comprehensive development programme designed to kick start your successful career in HR.
With practical, on-the-job experience and theory, you'll get an overview of:
- Best professional practice
- Resourcing and talent planning
- Performance management
- Employment law
As an apprentice, your 30-month development programme will be made up of up to five placement rotations. We want to equip you with the skills and experience you need for a successful career.
We also understand that everyone's career is different, so every apprentice's journey is unique. Below is an idea of what yours could look like.
Where this career can take you
You'll gain a CIPD Level 5 in Applied Human Resources and become a CIPD associate member.
By combining on-the-job training with classroom training, you'll get the skills and understanding required for a successful career in HR.

Or business partnering depending on which areas you have developed interests in on the scheme.
Application process
There are three stages:
- Online application: It's where you enter your personal details and select the programme you want to apply for.
- Online test: This test helps us (and you) to identify your key strengths and understand if they align to our strengths and values.
- Assessment centre: It varies by role but will include an interview, a group task or a presentation. We'll provide more details nearer the assessment centre date, so you have time to prepare.
